Jury rights outreach – Manchester (8/24/15)

For the first time in a while, I made it to Manchester to perform a jury nullification outreach operation.

Jury nullification is the right of jurors to vote their conscience and acquit a defendant, regardless of the letter of the law.

I was joined by Ian Marshall and Marika and Mariam Yakubovich.

Most jurors had previously received pamphlets. The reception was a bit chilly, and plenty refused the pamphlet, or outright avoided eye contact. I suspect this is because of previous Manchester activists “poisoning the well,” turning jurors off by filming them, making snide remarks, or getting into confrontations with the guards.

We reached 30 new jurors.
