Jury rights outreach – Brentwood (10/26/15)

I was again joined by BJ Mumford in handing out jury rights information at the Rockingham County Courthouse in the seacoast region of New Hampshire.

IMG_4548Jury nullification is where a jury chooses not to convict based not on the legality of the case at hand, but on the morality of the law.  Activists inform jurors of this right by distributing informative pamphlets.  Each pamphlet gives a brief history of jury nullification, lists some rights of each juror, and explains why the practice of jury nullification is important.

This was the second week of selection for this group of individuals although there were a few fresh faces coming and going from the courthouse that were interested in fliers.  Many of the returning potential jurors smiled from a distance and as they approached they politely told us that they already had a pamphlet from last week.  Even still, a few took another one anyway.  In all, 21 pamphlets were handed out and with virtually all positive responses.
