Jury rights outreach – Brentwood (2/8/16)

February in New Hampshire may be cold but that isn’t enough to deter liberty activists from informing jurors about jury nullification!  With a blizzard blowing in, the number of jurors streaming into the Rockingham County Courthouse seemed to be less than the usual 120+ from previous sessions. Even so, there was a steady flow of people holding their summons paperwork with which to interact.

IMG_5505Jury nullification is where a jury chooses not to convict based on their conscience rather than the letter of the law, thereby nullifying a bad law or a bad application of a law. Jury rights activists pass out pamphlets to jurors informing them of their right to nullify.

Out of the people who confirmed they were there for jury selection, only 1 individual refused to take a pamphlet.  A few individuals stopped to ask quickly about the pamphlet through chattering teeth and 2 defense lawyers told me to keep up the good work as they waited in the security line.  Several court workers made statements about the fact that it must be Monday since I was outside handing out pamphlets…we are becoming a permanent presence on selection days!

In total I distributed 70 pamphlets to a group of 71 potential jurors.  Join me next week at 9:30AM for week 2 of this session!
