Jury rights outreach – Brentwood (2/22/16)

This week, BJ Mumford engaged potential jurors with jury nullification fliers at the Rockingham County Courthouse during this group’s second week of selection.

Jury nullification is where a jury chooses not to convict based on their conscience rather than the letter of the law, thereby nullifying a bad law or a bad application of a law. Jury rights activists pass out pamphlets to jurors informing them of their right to nullify.

The first 2 dozen people who arrived for selection already had pamphlets from the last session so they declined to take another. Even so, an additional 10 people took a pamphlet on their way into the court bringing the grand total distributed for this session to an even 80. There are still 2 more sessions for this group so feel free to join at 9:30AM on either Monday 2/29 or 3/7!
