Jury rights outreach – North Haverhill (3/22/16)

Today, for the first time ever, I led a jury nullification outreach operation in the White Mountains, way up in North Haverhill.

Jury nullification is where a jury decides not to convict a defendant, not based on whether or not the law applies, but based on whether or not applying the law would yield an unjust result. Jury rights activists hand out pamphlets to jurors outside of courthouses informing them of their right to nullify bad laws.

This was my first foray into the White Mountains, to hit the Grafton County courthouse. I was joined by Dann (not pictured), a member of the North Country Porcupines, for the outreach. The court had cancelled the selection without providing notice. Nevertheless, we still reached one former juror who was looking for the DMV.

Despite the cancelled selection, I left Dann with a large box of flyers. Hopefully this means that Lancaster and North Haverhill jury outreach will be covered. Only two courthouses remain until we have all eleven!
