Jury Rights Outreach – Brentwood (6/13/16)

Today was the second round of selection for June at the Rockingham County Court in Brentwood, NH.  BJ Mumford and Emmy Andersen were there to greet all of the potential jurors and hand out jury nullification information, and pocket constitutions!

Jury nullification is where a jury decides not to convict a defendant because applying the law in that case would yield an unjust result. Activists inform jurors of their right to nullify bad laws by distributing informative pamphlets.

It was another beautiful spring day and the jurors were cordial as always, most of them politely informing us that they had already received a pamphlet the previous week.  Emmy set a personal record by handing out 10 pocket Constitutions, leading to celebratory dancing and victory kicks 🙂 In all we distributed 14 pamphlets to jurors, and received very positive feedback from those that had read the material from last week.

The June selection group will be reporting again next Monday at 10AM so come join us at 9:30 in front of the courthouse if you are interested.  Hope to see you there or at future outreach events!
